Picking A Projector

August 31, 2010

There are lots of reasons that you might want to consider buying a projector. In recent years, projector prices have definitely come down and the quality of the images have gone up. Once, not very long ago, projectors were really for hardcore home theatre enthusiast, but now the lowering of projector quality coupled with the increase in quality has opened up real opportunities for other consumers.

While you can still spend several thousand dollars on a high quality projector, there are now many options available for several hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars. For about the same price as buying a plasma or LCD high definition television, you can now purchase a projector system that provides 1080p resolution high definition. If you take the time to shop and compare projectors, you might be surprised with what you find.

With the newest projector systems supporting high definition at 1080p resolution, you can really take advantage of the high definition programming available from your Dish Network connection. You will also be pleased with the vivid and lifelike images from movies played on your Blu-Ray player.

Within the projector segment there are two primary technologies for digital image creation. Digital Light Processing (DLP) and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) technologies make up a very high percentage of the projectors sold in today’s market. Each has proponents and detractors, and when it comes right down to it, it is a personal decision as to which you prefer. As part of your evaluation process you should view projectors of each technology and compare their features and benefits to determine which suits your needs best.

While it is possible to find a relatively inexpensive projector, there are other important considerations as well. For example, you will need a screen and a sound system. Many people do use a blank preferably white wall as a screen and this can be adequate, but there is no doubt even a modest screen can improve your overall experience. However, it is difficult to forgo some sort of speaker set-up, after all, sound is critical to the movie experience. Luckily, there are plenty of inexpensive sound systems on the market.

Satellite TV is a growing industry and with companies like the Dish Network and others competing for our attention someone needs to keep track of it all and that’s what James Darren does.
